Tribal Crystal Tipped Magick Wand

Tribal Style Maple Wand by Tree Pruitt
This tribal inspired wand began as a bark covered off-shoot of a Silver Maple tree branch. It's a favorite of the wands that I've crafted because of it's almost quirky form and great feel. After having the bark stripped it was oven dried then hand carved. A smokey quartz crystal point was securely mounted into the delicate projection end tip. The crystal was hand collected from Montana and has a very nice natural point. In the wands mid-section rests a tiny smooth amethyst gemstone. The handle portion has an acorn shaped pommel with a carved groove that allows for light charms, ribbon, or feathers to be tied on for added decoration. The entire wand has been hand rubbed with a light black/brown oil paint finish with a buff natural feel.

Though this isn't the best choice of wands to carry in a pocket, it is quite sturdy with a thick handle and spunky attitude.

Apple Wood Wand with Frosted Scepter Crystal Twin and Pentagram

Sturdy apple wood wand with a frosted twin scepter quartz crystal point & a woodburned pentagram design. Use for rites of healing, love, prosperity or fertility and goddess worship. The wood was pruned from a very old Granny Smith Apple tree, dried, hand cleaned, then heat treated for sanitation and tempering. The surface of this wand has a smooth hand buffed finish with some protection & shine provided by quality Renaissance preservation wax. The pommel end tapers at a slight angle with the edges rounded over.

Quartz crystal is known as the stone of power and amplifies any energy or intention. It protects against negativity, attunes to your higher self, and strengthens the aura. A scepter crystal is a rare formation where a crystal point forms around a "shaft" of a crystal, twinning being even more rare. A scepter crystal creates a strong connection between spirit and the "true self" and is often used for healing ceremonies. A twin crystal symbolizes union with the One, and enhances compatibility between individuals, which will aide the energy of the healer to incorporate with a person being healed.

Clear Quartz is known as the stone of power and amplifies any energy or intention. It protects against negativity, attunes to your higher self, and strengthens the aura.

Tibetan Quartz Crystal Tipped Ash Wood Wand by Tree Pruitt
Tibetan Quartz crystals are rare, being hand mined high in the mountains of Tibet and packed down the mountainside manually. They are often used in the preparation of other crystals for metaphysical use. It is a purification quartz, and is used in ceremonies to sanctify (cleanse) a place or person. When worn these crystals are said to aide in centering of the total self in effort to reach higher self. Tibetan crystals are excellent for protection. Just having one close to you puts up an automatic shield against negative energy, and it helps shield you from other people's negative energy. This shield is even stronger if a centering exercise is done while holding a Tibetan Quartz crystal.

Metaphysical Ash: The magic influence of the ash tree reaches far back into time, and the properties are numerous. Ash wands or staves are good for healing, general magic, solar magic, to attract lightning, and is used to remove spells or hexes. The ancient World Tree (Yggdrasil) of Norse mythology is commonly thought to have been an ash tree, and the first man formed from the same. Being an herb of the sun, Ash brings light into the hearth at the Winter Solstice.

USES: Ash can be used for healing, all-purpose magic, especially solar magic, to attract lightning, to remove spells or hexes, ward away unwanted ghosts. Ash may also be worn or kept in your home to protect from general evil or negative influences and can provide protection from a witch's spell against you. An ash staff, wand, or stick placed over a door is said to ward off negative energy and prevent unwanted ghosts from entering, especially when combined with herbs such as mugwort.

Finger Tip Elm Wand Crystal Pendants

Crystal Elm Wand Pendant w/ Brass
I've recently finished a group of little wands for use by finger tip that can hang around the neck as jewelry or the wrist to ensure contact. These mini wand pendants were made from ethically harvested American Elm wood branches that were gathered, de-barked, heat treated to clean, cut, shaped, colored, and skillfully topped with a clear Tibetan quartz crystal point to create a mini magic wand suitable to wear as jewelry. Copper, brass, and sterling silver accent the individual pieces.
Crystal Elm Wand Pendant w/ Silver
These wands are unique, and did take some time to craft by hand without the use of power tools; a lot of effort and love has gone into each. At this time only four individual elm wands of this type have been made. They range in length from 2 1/2" to 3 " from wood end to crystal tip.

Shaman Journey Wand

Tip of Shaman Journey Wand #oa3, by Tree Pruitt
The tip of the wand is shown here.
A White Oak branch felled by lightning on a Full Moon night inspired the creation of a small series of Native or Druid style wands years ago. This handmade 13" wand is accented with a genuine horse hair tassel to represent the spiritual journey and guide a path. It is topped with a deep purple natural amethyst crystal for the magic of sleep and dreams. Powerful energy of the spiral also comes into play through the coiled wire, and wood burned accents call to the Four Quarters or Four Directions.

The oak wood had been carefully hand polished for a pleasant feel and attractive look. No power tools were used except for the pyrography burning tool; all work was done by hand. The entire piece took three months to craft overall. This wand is no longer available.

Shaman Journey Wand, #oa3, by Tree Pruitt
The entire wand is shown here.

The name of this wand: Shaman Journey Wand, #oa3

Main Materials: White Oak wood, amethyst crystal point, horse hair tassel

Length: 13"

* 13 Steps to Making this Ceremonial Magick Wand
1. Felled branches were gathered.
2. Branches were cut into lengths and cleaned of bark and small out branches. Cleaning was done with a ceremonial bowline knife that is only used for ritual crafting.
3. The new "naked" wands were spread out on a tray and low temp baked in an old oven to remove bacteria; sterilize.
4. This individual wand was then smoothed down with various grades of sandpaper to remove the chip carving feel of the de-barking process.
5. After examining the wand, inspiration and Spirit took over. A gem stone crystal that matches the form of the end of the wood was selected. It needs to not only fit the physical shape but also the spiritual function of the piece.
6. The wood was carved out by hand using eye measurement to allow the stone to fit as tightly as possible.
7. Once the shapes were right a small amount of very strong glue was added before the pieces were joined together. Making sure the fit is tight, the piece was allowed to dry.
8. After several days drying the glue I swelled the wood around the crystal. Small amounts of water were carefully allowed to soak into the grain of the wood, causing it to swell. I checked the stone to test tightness and go on to another drying. The wand was again baked at a low temp to remove the moisture I added. This causes the wood grains to tighten up more than before; like tempering.
9. The next step was to add decorations with the wood burner and finish off the surface of the wood. Instead of sandpaper this time the wood was smoothed with various pieces of natural sandstone rock.
10. The horse hair tassel was then added. The hair was gathered and secured with a hand weaving, then tacked in place with a small amount of the same strong glue.
11. The piece was varnished with environmentally friendly varnish.
12. At the next Full Moon after varnishing the wire accent was added during a welcoming ceremony.
13. Step thirteen, sacred number to the Goddess, was for the wand to find it's home.

Raven Head Wand Pagan Folk Art Ritual Tool

This wand was carved from Ash Wood in the form of the head and wings of raven for use in Wicca rituals, Pagan ceremony, and/or Shamanic rites. The style was inspired by the early Native American Adena and Hopewell mound builder cultures of North America because I admire the art of these ancient people. I was born near The Great Serpent Mound effigy in Ohio, and I think my Appalachian roots come through in the style of this piece.
Raven Head Wand, by Tree Pruitt
The name of this wand: Raven Head Wand, #hm049

Main Materials: White Ash wood, clear crystal point, polished amethyst

Length: 15"

Detail of Raven Head Wand, by Tree PruittThe wood was harvested at the peak of a Full Moon and the wand was finished during a later 2010 New Moon. No power tools were used; All of the work was done by hand using knives, files, and stones to cut and shape the wood. This wand measures 15 inches long and one half inch wide around. The carved bird wings at the pommel end provide a comfortable none slip grip. The projection end is topped with a tiny clear quartz crystal point from the American Southwest. Just past the hand turned lines is a tiny polished amethyst stone embedded in a natural knot of the wood.

Detail of Raven Head Wand, by Tree Pruitt After carving and smoothing this raven head wand I mixed a black stain that soaked into the wood grain; The surface is much more smooth than it may look in the pictures because of that grain contrast. The hand rubbed oil stain finish is made from high quality art materials to give the entire wand a satin sheen.

The Rustic Knot Wand

Rustic Knot Ash Wand by Tree Pruitt
Rustic Knot Ash Wand (other items shown not included).
This natural finished wand is ready to emerge from my witches cabinet to begin its search for an owner; a partner in magic. At 15 inches long it is handmade from the same special metaphysical White Ash wood that I've offered before. This wand retains the look of a natural tree branch with small knots that have been smoothed over lightly, showing the warm tone of the wood grain beneath the tree bark. The pommel handle end features a large open healed knot in the wood which, though rustic looking, is surprisingly comfortable to the touch. The hand rubbed finish has a warm golden tone to the natural tree bark colors of red brown.

Crystal tipped projection end.
The ends of this wand hold special features of their own. On the projection tip is a natural clear quartz crystal. The crystal was hand collect in the American West and has a small second point growing off to one side; this stone is active and ready to work! It's set into place with my own tested methods using no power tools; the wood was hand carved to match the shape of the stone like a puzzle piece. The pommel end is shaped simply for comfort. The magickal core is on this end, and is sealed closed with natural paper clay. The ingredients of this core are all plant totems, my Ritual Tool Cleansing Brew, so this is an animal friendly wand.

Pommel end.
Overall this wand has the sturdy feel of a work tool yet also a balance of energy suited for all magic uses. A balance of masculine to feminine energy also exists physically in the stick because the wood was gather by my husband and myself plus the shape is reminiscent of both genitalia. Male energy is symbolized by the long projection end and female energy is represented by the "Yoni" like opening of the knot on the pommel, or receiving, end. When the metaphysical properties of the materials are taken into account with the energy the wand seems to exude it could be described as a steady work-horse for all-purpose spells from spiritual protection to healing, evocations and invocations, weather work to Circle casting and more.

 * This is the ash wood that previous customers have referred to as the "Hurricane Ike Wood", because it was felled from strong winds created by the storm that reached all the way up to Ohio. This wood has never touched the ground and was gathered with magic in mind.

Phoenix Medicine Ash Wood Wand

Named the Phoenix Medicine Wand this compact 10 3/4" x 1/2" ash wood stick features a magical core of ingredients similar to a those found in medicine bags and bundles, as well as other unique aspects. The size and feel of this neoshamanic wand is sturdy; not that it's unbreakable, but it could handle being stuffed into a Harry Potter style pocket for magic on the go.

The wood itself is a specially gathered White Ash (more info). One of the many magical uses for Ash Wood is for working with or warding away lightning, associated with the Phoenix or Thunderbird. The tip is capped with a fine miniature clear quartz crystal point from the American Southwest, set clean and firmly into place. The smoothed back layers of tree bark near the tip create a pattern reminiscent of a red feather, though the overall color is more brown than seen in the photographs. On this end of the wand a gently smoothed knot revealed a natural sacred spiral design in the bark and others similar to eyes or Yoni symbols. The Yoni like marks were created from the claws of fire red Cardinal birds having perched on the living branch, and the tree healed itself.

The pommel end contains the core. Within the natural stem cavity metaphysical ingredients have been placed to attract energy similar to the legendary Phoenix or Thunderbird. The materials include: Red Pheasant feather, a bit of Brown Bear hide, a bit of Red Fox fur, Mugwort herb, White Sage, Rosemary. This core was then sealed with natural paper clay, and the entire wand was lightly coated with a protective gloss varnish.

Rowan and Plum Wood Tribal Fairy Wand

Tip and center portions of Tribal Fairy Wand by Tree Pruitt
The tip & center of the wand.
This wand was crafted from two different types of wood. The top portion, without tree bark, is the fruitful plum tree for abundance and the sweetness of magic. The lower portion is the sacred Rowan of the Druid and Fairy folk tales. With red bark and partner sage green lichen, the design emerges from the natural. The two sections of wood have been carefully hand joined into a single sturdy, yet delicate, wand to represent the magic of two worlds combined; the mundane human and magickal Fey. The entire wand has been coated with environmentally friendly varnish to protect the bark surfaces.
Name of Wand: Tribal Fairy Wand

The entire wand is shown.
A wand of rowan is known to be used in binding spells and to remove spirits or ghosts. The two types of wood further represent the concept of, "two coming together", by their original growing locations; the Rowan wood is from the Western USA and the Plum wood from the Eastern. The fine point tip holds a polished clear quartz crystal pebble, well fitted into place. Further down, a natural amethyst gem stone has been embedded into the wood grain; The shape is near to a triangle, pointing the dreamy energies of amethyst to do the wielders bidding. The handle end is uncapped and signed by the artist with a simple letter "T". The wood burned band, on the same end, could be used to tie colorful ribbons or beads for special events. No power tools were used, except for the electric pyrography wood burning tool; all work done by hand.

Slender Plum Wood Wand

This sleek wand is crafted from a plum wood stick that was lovingly pruned from a tree that I grew. The slender form fits comfortably in a small hand. I carefully capped the projection end with a small clear quartz crystal point. Both ends of the wand are sealed and smoothed with natural Paperclay product for a tidy finish. Having been a young branch it has no thorns but still retains the plum red bark. Acrylic paint was carefully matched to the natural color of the bark so as to visually blend the pale colored Paperclay into the wand. The surface was then coated with a clear protective varnish, which also gives the wand a nice buffed shine.

Magic Uses: This wand can be used in rites of protection, fertility, creativity, healing, dispersing evil and/or negative energy, said to be an all-purpose magic general use wood especially for an artist or other creative person, and also within self-help magic.
